DescriptionBlack silk dress, possibly for evening wear, with wide, low neckline, fitted waist, and flared knee-length skirt. The sleeves are cut one with the bodice, and have a gusset under the arms for a comfortable fit. The center front of the bodice is decorated with an insert of white net between two rounded extensions of the black silk, so that the effect of the white net is an hourglass shape. The two extensions each have a black button stitched to it. Horizontal darts are stitched at the base of this decorative feature. The dress has a zipper mounted in the proper left side seam. While the silk of the bodice is smooth, that of the skirt is creased throughout with small, irregular, horizontal pleats. The skirt panels are slightly flared, so that the skirt fits smoothly at the waistline, but is wide at the hem. The dress has a matching silk, one-inch-wide belt, with a self-covered buckle.
