The man wears a coat, vest, shirt, necktie, and pants. A second man is seated in a carved armchair at the left. He holds a handkerchief to his mouth. A girl kneels in the foreground. She hides her face in the bedclothes and appears to be weeping. Fringed drapery with a valance and tassels frames the scene at the left, right, and above. Patterned carpet is on the floor.
