DescriptionMarking sampler worked in medium blue, black, medium brown, and cream linen threads on a plain-woven sool ground using cross stitches over two threads. The sampler is rectangular, oriented horizontally. It is laid out with two rows of one alphabet, over two square shapes and other practice stitching on the bottom. The lines of alphabets are separated by various narrow borders, including straight and meandering lines. There is a narrow border at the top and side edges.

The sampler has a 2/8-inch double-turned hem on all four edges. The sampler is not framed.

Letters and Numbers: There is one alphabet. The letters are uppercase block. The letter J is present. The alphabet ends at the letter R.

Stitches: The sampler is worked in cross stitches over two threads.

Condition: The sampler has minimal fading. The lower left corner is worn. The sampler is not framed.
