DescriptionCast Britannia metal coffeepot with a domed lid that has a small finial on top that contains an ivory disk. The lid is joined to the body of the coffeepot with a hinge at the rim. The body has a cylindrical lip, straight, tapered sides, a flared base, and a flat bottom. The body has a raised band where the lip meets the body. There are two groups of three raised bands on the coffeepot, one at the shoulder and one just above the base. At one side of the coffeepot, is a slush-cast, ear-shaped handle with a scroll at the top and a short C-curve at the bottom. At each end of the handle, a short cylinder attaches it to the body of the coffeepot. The entire handle, except the short cylinders, is painted black. Opposite the handle, an S-shaped spout is soldered to the body of the coffeepot; the spout is applied over several holes that are punched through the side of the coffeepot.
NotesForm Note: This type of coffeepot is referred to as a "Lighthouse Coffeepot" due to the tall, tapered shape of the body. (Hunt 7/24/2006)
