DescriptionUnfinished family register worked in dark greens, medium green, light green, cream, rust, tan, dark brown, dark blue, light blue and yellow silk threads on a plain-woven linen ground in cross stitch and other stitches. The register is squarish, oriented vertically. It is laid out with a floral swag extending out to the upper corners and down the two sides, over an arched scroll design, over the words "Family Register", over two cartouches containing family details, over two large columns that flank: a drawn, unfinished horizontal band of flowers with centered cartouche containing family details, over nine lines of family details presented in three columns marked "Names", "Births" and "Deaths", over the start of two inscriptions positioned side by side at the bottom. The two inscriptions are identical, "Sacred to the Memory". The register has a four-sided flower and vine border.

The top edge of the family register is a selvedge. The edges are raw in some places. The right edge appears to have a 3/16-inch double-turned hem. The left and bottom edges are not visible. The register is a narrow mat. The register is in a modern wooden frame.

Stitches: The principal stitch on the register is cross stitch over two threads; it is also worked in cross over two, encroaching satin, and satin stitches.

Condition: The register probably has light to severe fading, depending on the color. The top edge is raw in some places. There are some worn spots. There are designs drawn on the ground. The register is not finished. It is in a modern frame.
