DescriptionA middle-aged woman is seated in a side chair beside a drop-leaf table. She wears a cap and a dress with a lace pelerin. Her hands are folded in her lap. A diapered carpet or floorcloth is on the floor. The window is open and the curtains are tied back. An enclosed pasture or garden, a dirt path or drive, and a small barn or shed are visible through the window.
NotesSubject Note: This is companion portrait to that of Mr. James Eldredge (1957.56.1); both portraits have similar landscapes visible out of a window. The property is most likely meant to be the James Eldredge's property in Brooklyn, Connecticut.
