DescriptionPair of tiebacks made of pressed opal glass with a pewter shank. The glass portion of each tieback is blue-white in the center, gradually becoming translucent and colorless toward each edge. The tiebacks each have a raised six-petaled rosette on top, with raised circles outlining each petal and a three-part fan between each petal. Raised circles surround a metal knob in the center. The knob in the center of the rosette extends through the tieback to a pewter shank in the back that ends in an iron screw. The back of each tieback has a smooth edge and a stippled area that corresponds to the shape of the rosette on the front. Six smooth oval areas on the back correspond to the center of the petals on the front of each tieback.

The back half of the shank on tieback .1 has a rough surface. The back half of the shank on tieback .2 is coated with a white substance, probably paint. The glass portions of each tieback have accumulated areas of paint as well.
