DescriptionMold-blown and cut colorless non-lead glass case bottle and stopper with a flared rim, a short cylindrical neck, curved shoulders, a square body, and a flat bottom with a polished pontil mark. There is a ridge of glass surrounding the neck, formed by a second gather of glass added to the body of the case bottle using a technique known as the half-post method. A border of chains, flowers, and bows decorates the shoulders of the case bottle. The sides and edges have been cut to create flat, polished surfaces and canted corners and edges. The interior of the neck has been ground to receive a stopper (now missing). The shoulders show some wear to the gilding. The bottom of the case bottle has a few scratches in the glass.

Pontil mark: A rough place on a blown glass object where the solid metal rod, or pontil, is cracked off the object after final shaping and decoration. Pontil marks can be polished to achieve a smooth surface.
NotesHistorical Note: The home of Martha Ruhamah Tryon Lambert (1892-1979) was located at 712 Main Street in South Glastonbury, Connecticut.

Object Note: This case bottle was intended for use while traveling with a matching group of bottles housed in a case. (Hunt 3/23/2005)
