DescriptionMold-blown and cut colorless non-lead glass case bottles, each with an applied ring at the rim, a short cylindrical neck, curved shoulders, a rectangular body, and a shallow kick with a pontil mark on the bottom. There is a ridge of glass surrounding each neck, formed by a second gather of glass added to the body of each case bottle using a technique known as the half-post method. Neoclassical-style decorations have been cut into each case bottle at the shoulders. Shallow ovals follow the outline of the shoulders, with small stylized flowers at each end of each bottle. The interior of each neck has been ground to receive a stopper (now missing). There are a few light scratches on the bottom of each case bottle. Case bottle .71 has a white rectangular paper label with a red border and serrated edge. "MEDICINE/ BOTTLE/ 1791" is typed onto the label.
Kick: An indentation in the bottom of a drinking glass, bottle, or other glass object.
Pontil mark: A rough place on a blown glass object where the solid metal rod, or pontil, is cracked off the object after final shaping and decoration. Pontil marks can be polished to achieve a smooth surface.
