DescriptionGrey, ovoid, stoneware jug with a rolled rim, reeded neck, ovoid shoulder and body, and a flat bottom. A pulled strap handle connects the neck with the shoulder of the jug. Opposite the handle is an impressed mark, "GOODALE/ STEDMAN/ HARTFORD". Cobalt blue decoration has been applied lightly over the mark and at each end of the handle. A cork is still firmly inserted into the rim and neck of the jug. There are several imperfections in the surface and glaze of the jug, most notably an area of light brown discoloration below and to the lower right of the handle. There is light crazing over all the glazed surfaces of the jug. There are two chips in the rim of the jug, and an unknown substance adhered to the same area, perhaps a result of the firing process.
