DescriptionGrey, ovoid, stoneware jug with a plain rim, reeded neck, ovoid shoulder and body, and a flat bottom. A pulled strap handle connects the neck and shoulder of the jug. Opposite the handle is an impressed mark, "GOODWIN/ &/ WEBSTER/ HARTFORD". A small amount of cobalt blue has been applied over the mark and at each end of the handle. There are drips and irregular areas of cobalt blue to the left of the handle and below the mark. The salt glaze on the exterior of the jug is thickly applied, textured, and tinted green. A brown slip glaze, or Albany-type glaze, coats the inside of the jug. There is an indentation in the side of the jug at the base of the handle, as well as several imperfections in the glaze in the general area of the handle. There is crazing over all the exterior glazed surfaces of the jug, and one large area of loss and several small chips in the foot. There is a curved hairline crack in the side of the jug below the mark.
