DescriptionMold-blown and cut colorless non-lead glass case bottle with an applied ring at the rim, a short cylindrical neck, horizontal shoulders that slope down to an octagonal body, and a pontil mark on the bottom. There is a ridge of glass surrounding the neck, formed by a second gather of glass added to the body of the case bottle using a technique known as the half-post method. The shoulders and body of the case bottle are decorated with a pattern of cut ovals, circles, and lines. Two concentric borders of elongated ovals circle the neck of the case bottle. Above each panel is a half-circle, or arch, of elongated ovals and half ovals. Each side of the case bottle is outlined at the top and edges by a line of cut circles. Each side is decorated with one of two motifs that alternate between a geometric, radiating eight-pointed star with eight points and an abstract star, or flower, made of cut ovals. There is off-white and light brown dirt on the interior of the bottle. There is a ring of light scratches and wear around the edge of the bottom.

Pontil mark: A rough place on a blown glass object where the solid metal rod, or pontil, is cracked off the object after final shaping and decoration. Pontil marks can be polished to achieve a smooth surface.
NotesUse Note: This case bottle was intended for use while traveling with a matching group of bottles housed in a case. (Hunt 3/23/2005)
