DescriptionSmoke issues from two smokestacks of a large industrial building. A sign on the roof reads, "WEED SEWING MACHINE COMPANY'S MANUFACTORY." An American flag flies from the roof. A separate wing extending towards the left has two cupolas and appears to have skylights in the roof. A two-story building at the right has two separate signs on its roofs, "WEED SEWING MACHINE" and "COMPANY'S MANUFACTORY." A rail fence surrounds the property. A horse-drawn wagon is in the foreground.
NotesSubject Note: The Weed Sewing Machine Company began taking over emply space in the Sharps Rifle Factory, even before that company failed in 1870; at that point, Weed occupied the entire complex. (Finlay 1/2/2005)
