NotesHistorical Note: Charles C. Strong I (1819-1907) was one of the oldest members of the First Company, Connecticut Governor's Foot Guard, which he joined at the opening of the Civil War in 1861. He was the Treasurer of the Foot Guard for over forty years, and he was also Paymaster. This tankard commemorates 25 years of active service as Paymaster.
