DescriptionRound, grey, ovoid salt-glazed stoneware jug with a wide band, or collar, at the rim. A pulled strap handle connects the neck of the jug to the shoulder. Opposite the strap is the only decoration on the jug. It consists of a stamped maker's mark of "S*T Brewer/ NEW.LONDON/ " over a large number "1". Below this is an incised, sinuous, curved leaf. Cobalt blue has been applied to the leaf and both ends of the handle. An orange paper tag attached to the base of the handle, reads, "JUG/ STEPHEN/ BREWER/ CAT # 82". The remnants of four spots of white wax are adhered to the bottom of the jug. There is one chip at the foot of the jug.
