DescriptionGlobular, wide-mouthed redware jar with a clear lead glaze and manganese black decoration. The jar is glazed on the interior and exterior, with the exception of the foot and bottom inch of the exterior, which are not glazed. The jar has a flat foot and sides that swell then narrow again at the neck and rise to form a plain, standing rim. There are several incised lines below the rim. Two pulle, lug handles have been applied over these incised lines; the handles are pressed against the jar along their full length. Patches of manganese black are located around the shoulder and neck of the jar.
There is crazing over all the glazed surfaces. Around the center of the jar, chips are missing from the glaze, and there are many scratches. There are four large chips on the exterior of the rim, and several smaller chips in the glaze and ceramic at the edge of the rim. There are many chips to the glaze on the interior of the jar as well. Finally, there is a large, irregular crack down one rim and side of the jar between the handles.
