DescriptionGlobular, porcelain cream pitcher with hand-painted and printed overglaze green enamel decoration and gilding. The cream pitcher has a small spout and handle opposite each other, along two mold lines found on the body of the cream pitcher. There is a thin line of green enamel that decorates the rim and spout, and then extends down the handle. The handle is also embellished with hand-painted gilding that highlights abstract, raised decoration at the highest point of the handle. A line of leaves on a vine circles the cream pitcher just below the line of green at the rim. A separate line of green enamel circles the foot of the cream pitcher. The cream pitcher is decorated with the green, transfer-printed emblem of the Litchfield County University Club to the left of the handle. The emblem consists of a tree with fruit and leaves over an open book surrounded by a roughly square wreath of scrolls and leaves. The open book is divided into two sections. On the left, it reads, "LITCHFIELD/ COUNTY/ 18. On the right, it reads, "UNIVERSITY/ CLUB/ 96." Below this is a banner with the latin motto "LUX CARITUS UNIT AS CONSTANTIA".
