DescriptionView from an elevated position of a large building with a large square hole in the roof, where a portion of the roof has collapsed. Debris, twisted girders, and snow are in the hole. Tall brick and masonary buildings line the city streets. Elevated highway ramps are in the right background. Bushnell Park, Soldiers and Sailors Arch, and a multi-story hotel building with the word "HILTON" on the roof are in the left background. Snow is on the ground.
NotesSubject Note: At 4:15 a.m. on 18 January 1978, during a major snowstorm, the roof of the arena of the Hartford Civic Center collapsed and fell 83 feet to the floor. Just hours earlier, the arena had been packed with spectators at a hockey game. (Finlay 10/5/2004)
