DescriptionRound, Chinese export porcelain tea bowl with hand-painted overglaze red enamel and gilding. The tea bowl has a thin line of gilding at the rim and two narrow borders on the inside rim. The first is a line of red enamel, and the second is a line of inverted gilt triangles with small dots of red enamel between each triangle. The outside rim of the tea bowl has a line of small gilt leaves outlined in red enamel. The primary decoration on the outside of the tea bowl is a pseudoarmorial consisting of a red enamel and gilt shield, eagle, and mantel, with a small flower in the center of the shield. A small gilt flower is also located on the opposite side of the tea bowl. The gilding shows signs of wear all over. Imperfections in the porcelain appear as black dots on the surface.
