DescriptionRound, ironstone teacup and saucer with a transfer-printed underglaze cobalt blue pattern and border. The pattern shows a tower and low wall in a state of ruin to the left. The tower has grass growing from the top, and there are trees behind the wall. To the right of the tower, two figures are fishing along a stream or river that winds through the scene. To the right, two tall trees sit on land that sticks out into the river. A wall, village, and low hills are visible in the distance. The border consists of various types of white flowers and dark blue leaves on a medium blue background, edged with a line of small white shapes on a dark blue field.

Teacup (.1): The pattern is printed twice on the outside of this round teacup. On one of the patterns the image of the tower is smudged. A small molded handle has been applied on one side between the two patterns. The handle is decorated with small white flowers on a blue field. The border is printed on the inside of the rim. Part of the scene, just the ruined tower and wall, is printed on the inside bottom of the teacup. There is crazing on all the surfaces of the teacup.

Saucer (.2): The pattern is printed once in a circle on the center of the saucer and is surrounded by the border printed on the rim. There are three stilt marks on the top surface of the saucer. There is a chip in the foot.

Saucer (.3): Unable to locate at the time of cataloging.
