DescriptionRound, earthenware plate with transfer-printed underglaze cobalt blue pattern showing a man in a military uniform and a cape kneeling below a large tree. The man is bathed in light as he looks upward and to the left. His hands, clasped in prayer, are resting on his right knee. His horse is to the right of the tree, and a snowy campground can be seen in the far right distance. This pattern is surrounded by a wide border at the rim of the plate, consisting of clusters of flowers and fruit. The plate has crazing over all the surfaces, as well as eight short hairline cracks at the rim and on the bottom.
