DescriptionAmateur snapshots of men, women, boys, and girls. In some photographs it is summer, in others, it is winter and snow is on the ground. One interior of a living room includes a Christmas tree and a television set in a large wooden cabinet. Others include a fireplace, framed pictures, upholstered armchairs, a footstool, a hassock, a corner cupboard, lamps, a telephone, and patterned wallpaper. Exteriors include a flower garden in the shape of an American flag, an automobile, a boy with a bow and arrow, toy sailboats, a rowboat, a bicycle with bunting in the wheel spokes, a tent, and a paperboy with a bag that reads: "The / Hartford Times". A white frame house with a brick chimney, a picket fence, and louvered shutters appears in the background of several photographs.
NotesSubject Note: According to the donor, most photographs were taken at the Schaber family home, 114 Grant Street, Hartford. According to the inscriptions on the versos, others were taken at Elizabeth Park, Stanley Park, Beachland Park, or at the Schaffenberger's. (Finlay 7/12/2004)
