DescriptionRound plate, with a lightly scalloped rim, made of buff-colored earthenware with a light blue-tinted glaze, a type of ceramic known as pearlware. The plate is decorated with an overglaze transfer-printed, red enamel pattern. The pattern, titled, "Canova", shows a dark red urn sitting on a low wall, with trees and a walled-in lawn to the left. On the right, a boat floats in a body of water, and a building with a portico is on the shore in the distance. The pattern is surrounded by a brief area of white, then a border of pointed arches and geometric floral embellishments. The border, found on the rim of the plate, consists of eight panels of two different alternating designs. One design has a red background with a line of flowers, and the other design shows an urn on a pedestal with a boat floating in the water to the right. The plate has some light crazing and one crack running from the rim to the bottom.
