DescriptionRound, wheel-thrown Chinese export porcelain punch bowl with hand-painted underglaze cobalt blue landscape with overglaze polychrome enamels and gilding. The enamels on this punch bowl are in the following colors: green, brown, orange, yellow, pink, white, blue, purple, and red (maroon). While the majority of the enameled areas are translucent, a few small areas of enameling are opaque. The landscape shows a river, Chinese structures, and trees, with mountains in the distance. A boat is floating on the river, and several small figures populate the landscape. One is fishing in the river, and two are crossing a bridge in the foreground. The interior of the bowl is plain. The applied gilding at the rim of the bowl shows some wear. Imperfections in the porcelain appear as black dots on the surface of the punch bowl.
