DescriptionDiamond-shaped, scalloped-edged lidded dish of Chinese export porcelain, hand-painted in underglaze cobalt blue with a Chinese landscape; the lidded dish is a type of Chinese export porcelain known as Nankingware. The landscape shows a tree and Chinese structure to the right, surrounded by a river. There is a bridge in the foreground, and mountains, trees, and Chinese structures in the distance. A small figure walks across the bridge, and another figure is in a boat on the river.
Dish (.a): The landscape, found on the bottom of the inside of the dish, is surrounded by a series of borders. The first is a solid blue line, followed by a border of scrolls, leaves, and flowers. This is followed by a field of white. At the rim of the dish is another border of scrolls, leaves, and flowers. The outside of the dish has four clusters of flowers.
