DescriptionGroup of six round porcelain coffee cup saucers with gilded decoration, part of a larger partial tea and coffee set of gilded porcelain consisting of one coffee cup, nine teacups, eight teacup saucers, and six coffee cup saucers. In general, the pieces of this partial set are decorated with a wide band of gilding at the rim and a gilded border below. The border consists of an undulating vine with leaves placed in the depressions of the vine, and clusters of grapes under the raised portions of the vine. This group of eight saucers follows the above described pattern of decoration, with an additional gilded decoration in the center, consisting of a wide, circular band of gilding surrounded by a narrow band of gilding.
In this partial set, the coffee cup saucers (.11-.16) are different from the teacup saucers (.17-.24) in that the coffee cup saucers have a flat bottom and straight sides that form a 45 degree angle to the bottom of the saucer. On the teacup saucers, the sides slope gently up to the rim.
All of the coffee cup saucers show some wear to the gilded decoration, but especially the rims of saucers .12, .13, .14, and .15. The double gilded circle in the center of saucer .12 is completely worn away, and it is partially worn away in saucer .13.
