DescriptionBlack cotton jacket with a mandarin collar and black braid trim. The center front opening has five plastic, domed, metal-shank buttons emblazoned with a crest and "Royal Ulster Rifles" on the proper left side. The buttonholes on the right are hand worked. The proper left chest has an asymmetrical patch pocket that chevrons at the bottom. The chevron shape is repeated toward the top of the pocket with black braid. The braid also trims the center front opening edges, the collar seam, and the bottom hem, including the two side vents. The two-piece sleeves are set in smoothly and have slight shoulder pads. The cuffs each have a short placket on the outer edge that closes with a button; the cuffs and plackets are trimmed in braid. The back of the jacket is cut in one piece and has small darts at the shoulder seams. The jacket is partially lined in brown silk, and raw edges are bias-bound in black silk.
