DescriptionA woman stands at the left on the broad base of a marble monument. She wears a dress with puff sleeves, a belt, an apron, and a shawl. Her left hand is raised to cover her face, and her left elbow rests on the base of the monument. The monument has a high, rectangular base surmounted by an urn or lamp. A weeping willow arches overhead, and flowering plants, including roses, grow in the grassy lawn at the left and right. A broad river or lake is in the background. A boat with two sails is on the water. A small Gothic church and another willow tree are on the far bank at the far right.
