DescriptionRound, Chinese hard paste porcelain bowl hand-painted in underglaze cobalt blue with Chinese landscapes. The central landscape on the bottom of the inside shows a multi-story Chinese structure sitting on the bank of a river. A few small figures are walking on a bridge that crosses the river. A small boat floats on the river, and trees and hills fill the background. The central landscape is surrounded by a field of white that slopes up the inside of the bowl. A border at the inside of the rim is a field of blue with white flowers at regular intervals. The outside of the bowl is painted with an extended Chinese landscape showing additional structures, a river, and small figures on a beach and in boats. Imperfections in the porcelain appear as black dots on the surface of the bowl.
