DescriptionRound, solid blue jasperware vase decorated with white sprig-molded relief decoration. The vase is shaped like a round column with a flared foot that rests on an octagonal plinth. The sides of the plinth are decorated with a geometric pattern of raised decoration. A sprig-molded wreath circles the vase where the flared foot of the column meets the base. Above this is is just over an inch of engine-turned fluting. The main portion of the vase, about four inches, is decorated with various sprig-molded relief of boys frolicking around the column. Above this scene is a border of vines forming circles, with flowers inside. Finally, at the top of the vase, is a border of bundled blue reeds, with white relief decoration forming an 'X' to hold the reeds together at evenly spaced intervals. The bottom of the vase has a scalloped-edge triangular opening, so there is a glass lining on the inside. The glass lining is cracked, as is the middle of the vase and applied decoration. There are chips on the upper corners of the octagonal base, but only two are significant. Finally, the glass lining is dirty, probably the result of use over time.
