DescriptionGirl's white purse with wood handles, with metal hinges and a wooden latch. The handles open flat to reveal the white rayon faille lining, which is sewn through the handles. There is a small pocket on the inside of the bag with a label stitched on to it reading "Hand Made/ by Imperial/ Madeira-Portugal." There are five pearlized plastic buttons sewn to the lining on the outside of the bag, on both the front and back. The buttons, at the edge of where the the wooden handles meet the lining fabric, allow for a white cotton or cotton-rayon blend cover to be buttoned on. With ten vertical buttonholes corresponding to the button placements, the cover is made of two double-sided ovals with a strip of fabric sewn to their lower edges to create a three-dimensional fabric structure. The front of the cover is decorated with four hand-appliquéd green cotton leaves and a red hibiscus. Vines, small leaves, and hibiscus details are hand-embroidered in green and red. The back of the cover is unadorned.
