DescriptionCherry stand in the late Chippendale or early Federal style. The stand has a round top, over a slender baluster-shaped pedestal, over a cylindrical base with three cabriole legs, each with a pad foot (each foot is replaced). The baluster-shaped pedestal has a ring toward the top of the baluster, and multiple reeding just above the cylindrical base.

Condition: Each foot has been reattached at the ankle. One leg was re-attached or repaired; there are multiple small nails and splits to the wood where the leg joins the pedestal base. The stand is refinished.

Design and Construction Details: The top is made from a single board and is screwed to a rectangular cleat from the underside. The pedestal is tenoned into the cleat. Each leg is dovetailed to the base of the pedestal. An iron plate with three small projecting strips is nailed and screwed to the underside of the pedestal, where the legs join the base.
