DescriptionA central group consisting of the Virgin Mary, the infant Jesus, and Saint Elizabeth with the young John the Baptist is surrounded by a Gothic framework. Mary, the young woman seated at the right, supports the Christ child, who is standing in her lap. Elizabeth, the older woman at the left, has her arm around John, a small boy dressed in animal skins. He holds a cross in his left hand, which the Christ child takes in his right hand. A banner in John's right hand reads: "AGNVS DEI". The Gothic arches form niches which are occupied by saints. Most are elderly bearded men wearing robes. "ST. JOHN" is a young man holding a chalice. "ST. JUDE" holds a staff and a book. "ST. THOMAS" holds a spear and a book. "ST. BARTHOLOMEW" holds a knife. "ST. MATTHIAS" holds a halberd. "ST. MARK" holds two fish and a cross. "ST. PAUL" holds a staff and a book. "ST. PETER" holds a book and a keys. "ST. MATTHEW" holds a sword. "ST. SIMON" holds a saw. "ST. PHILIPE," a young man, holds a crucifix and a book. "ST. JAMES THE LESS" holds an ax. "ST. JAMES THE GR." wears a broad-brimmed hat and holds a staff.
