DescriptionA three-story stone or brick factory building is surrounded by a wall. A sign in the gable reads: "TAYLOR & CO. / BREWERY." Smoke pours from four tall, metal stovepipe chimneys. A weathervane is on a cupola or ventilator at the left. Nearby, a man uses a pulley to raise a barrel from the courtyard to the third floor. Additional barrels are to the right. A man with a wheelbarrow is nearby. One-story wings extend to either side of the main building, and a series of doors open into what are presumably storerooms, incorporated into the perimeter wall. An arched carriage entrance is at the left. Stone walls line the roads at the left and right. Four mules or donkeys are on the road, one ridden by a man with an umbrella or parasol, one bearing a load and being beaten by a man with a stick, and one galloping towards the left while his rider leaps off or on. A fifth mule or donkey is in the space between the stone wall and the outer wall of the brewery. A palm tree and high, apparently barren, hills are in the right background.
