DescriptionA young man wearing a dressing gown over a shirt with an open neckline is seated at the right. He holds a quill pen in his right hand and is writing on a sheet of paper. Two other sheets of paper, densely covered with writing, are beneath it on a table. Two small covered containers, one of them probably an inkwell, and a small portfolio are also on the table. A young woman is seated at the left, close beside the man on the same upholstered chair or sofa. She wears a dress with a low neckline. Her jewelry includes a double strand pearl necklace and a brooch with a pearl pendant pinned to her sleeve. Her left arm is around the man's neck. Her right hand is on his right arm. Drapery is in the background.
