The woman at the right wears a patterned shawl decorated with fringe over a black dress. She holds a bonnet in her hand. A weeping willow grows at the far left, arching over the monument. Two leafy trees are at the right. Ferns and leafy plants grow in the left and right foreground. The three people stand on a grassy lawn, with a lake in the background. A two-story house with a porch is on the far side of the lake, reflected in the water.
