DescriptionAnimals are ascending a ramp leading to a large three-story barnlike wooden ship. Pairs of other animals approach from the foreground. These include elephants, kangaroos, deer, zebras, giraffes, camels, cranes, beavers, and lions. A large snake is coiled in two large palm trees at the left. Birds and monkeys are in a large tree at the right. Water is in the foreground and in the left background. Conical mountains are in the distance. Additional birds fly in the sky.
NotesSource Note: A similar design, credited to Napoleon Sarony, was printed and published by Currier & Ives. The ultimate visual source for both prints was probably a seventeenth-century Flemish painting, perhaps by Jan Breughel. (Finlay 6/17/2004)
