The lower boy also wears stockings, which are falling down, and shoes. He is bent over, and his hands rest on his knees. A small girl stands at the right. She wears a blouse, bodice, skirt, stockings, and shoes. She is holding out her apron with both hands. A small bird with outstretched wings is on a branch at the upper right. Two logs are on the ground. Grass and broad-leafed plants grow in the foreground. A second large tree is in the right background. A grassy field stretches into the distance, where a man rows a boat on a pond. A mill with a waterwheel is on the far side of the pond at the far left. Additional buildings are nearby. Additional trees and a hill or mountain are beyond.
