DescriptionTwo children are lying in bed. The girl, at the left, appears to be asleep. The boy, at the right, has his eyes and mouth open in terror. A large wolf is sprawled on the coverlet, looking over its shoulder at a black and white dog that leaps on its back. The dog wears a collar. Both animals have their teeth bared. Patterned green drapes are tied back with a cord at the left. Through an open window at the right, a woman can be seen on a grassy lawn. She wears a dress and shawl. A small sailboat is on a lake in the background. A large tree is at the far right, and hills or mountains are in the distance.
