DescriptionA stagecoach has crashed at a bend in a dirt road, apparently in front of an inn, which is not visible. Two of the four horses have fallen over a wooden watering trough. The others lie tangled on the ground. A pump is to the left of the watering trough, and a bucket and a broom are to the right. The coach has fallen on its right side, after colliding with an inn sign. The post of the sign has broken off and the sign itself lies across the door of the coach. It bears the image of a plow. Men and women tumble off the coach towards the back, their legs in the air. Two pigs run towards a pond in the right foreground. Stone steps are in the left foreground. Trees and a small house are in the right background. Men, a two-wheeled cart drawn by a horse, and another building are in the left background. Beyond, the road leads past cultivated fields on the left and the buildings of a small village on the right.
