DescriptionA woman stands in the clouds surrounded by angels. She wears a short dress over a long skirt with a gold belt or girdle and a long cloak. Her left arm is around a small child standing on a gold globe. The child is wearing a short tunic. With his right hand, he places a crown on the woman's head. Two small angels kneel at the left and right. The angel at the right holds a garland of flowers in each hand. A single rose rests on the clouds in the foreground. The heads and wings of eight small cherubs float in the sky in the background. The composition is enclosed in an oval frame, with flowers, including roses, in the corners.
Object number1950.202.124
NotesSource Note: The angel at the right resembles figures by Jean-Dominique Ingres (1780-1867), suggesting that the source for this composition is a work by that artist or a member of his school. (Finlay 3/19/2004)On View
