DescriptionA man wearing a coat, vest, shirt, necktie, breeches, and hose stands at the left, holding a silver tray in his right hand. His left hand is raised. A broken bottle or carafe, a broken glass, and a small footed dish lie on the paved floor. A woman is seated on a settee at the right. She holds the man's coattail in her left hand and raises a glass, apparently containing wine, in her right hand. Her blouse appears to be unfastened in front, and her patterned skirt is raised, exposing her ankles and boots with top caps. Her right foot rests on a footstool; her left foot is raised in the air. A second bottle is on a table covered with a tablecloth at the far right. Framed oval portraits of a man and woman hang on the wall. A statuette of a woman, nude from the waist up, is on a bracket between the two pictures. A smaller framed picture is below. Striped wallpaper is on the wall. Drapery is at the left.
