DescriptionA young child wearing a nightshirt with a ruffled collar is seated on a tangled pile of blankets or sheets. These rest on what appears to be a marble ledge. The child's right arm is around a small dog, possibly a terrier. The dog wears a wide collar with a metal ring in it. The child holds a toy French horn in his left hand. A toy rifle lies at his feet, at the far right, with its barrel outside the picture frame.
