DescriptionA man, seen in profile, stands in the interior of a room, facing right. He wears a coat and trousers and holds a top hat in his right hand and a cane or walking stick in his left. An armchair is behind him. A patterned carpet is on the floor, and a framed landscape painting of a castle on a hill overlooking a lake is on the wall in the left background. Fringed drapes are pulled back on either side of an open window, through which a Gothic church tower is visible above dense trees. Three small birds fly in the sky nearby.
