DescriptionLarge stone building with fluted Doric columns framing the door, louvered shuttered at windows on the ground floor, and pilasters above. Lettering above the door reads: "Trumbull Gallery." A path leads through a grassy lawn to the entrance. One man sits beneath a tree in the center foreground; another stands nearby. Three young trees grow in the lawn. The one at the right appears to be supported by posts. Another large tree is at the far left, and there is a line of trees in the background through which a large building with two chimneys and a lunette in its gable is visible.

NotesSubject Note: The Trumbull Gallery, built in 1832, was the first college-connected art museum. In 1869, windows were added, and it became the Treasury Building, used for administrative purposes. It was demolished in 1901. (Finlay 5/21/2004)
