DescriptionView of a group of men and boys standing outside in front of large bushes, posed in three rows. In the back row, left to right, are: Walter Bowden Cheney (1864-1913), Louis Richmond Cheney (1859-1944), Edward Moyle Cheney (1862-1888) and Wells Wadsworth Cheney (1857-1938). Kneeling in the middle row are: Paul Howard Cheney (1867-1949), Harry Richmond Cheney (1869-1947), John Platt Cheney (1868-1959), Horace Bushnell Cheney (1868-1936) and Mark Cheney (1871-1925). Howell Cheney (1870-1957) is sitting cross-legged in the very front. They all appear to be wearing three piece suits and several of them are holding bowler hats. Wells is holding a cane in his left hand.

The photograph is mounted on a piece of cardstock that is dark brown on the front and light brown on the back. The edges are gilt.

NotesDate note: Estimate based on life dates and approximate of subjects in photograph. Cataloging worksheet in object file gives date as circa 1887. Walter, Edward, Harry and Mark were the sons of William Henry Cheney (1833-1888) and Sarah Grace Moyle. Louis and Wells were the sons of George Wells Cheney (1825-1893) and Harriet Kingsbury Richmond (1823-1900). Paul was the son of Frank Cheney, Sr. (1817-1904) and Susan Jarvis Cushing (1827-1914). John Platt Cheney was the son of James Woodbridge Cheney (1838-1919) and Harriet Elizabeth Cheney (1838-1913). Horace and Howell were sons of Frank Woodbridge Cheney (1832-1909) and Mary Bushnell (1840-1917).
