DescriptionView of two young women sitting on steps in front of an open doorway. Harriet "Hart" Bowen Cheney (1867-1938) sits on the left and her older sister Elizabeth "Bess" Cheney (1865-1898) sits on the right. They are both wearing light colored dresses, wide-brimmed hats, and dark leather shoes. The walls on either side of the doorway are covered by a viney plant that has very large leaves.
The photograph is mounted on a piece of thick cardstock that is dark brown on the front and light gray on the back. The edges are beveled and gilt.
