DescriptionA steamboat is shown heading towards the right, with smoke issuing from its smokestack and flames and smoke issuing from its superstructure. The name "LEXINGTON" appears above the paddlewheel. Passengers are jumping from the deck into the choppy water. Some men and women are in the water holding onto planks or cotton bales. Two men in the left foreground sit on a large cotton bale. One man uses a plank as a paddle. Some men wear top hats. It is night, and the sky appears to be full of clouds.
