DescriptionA bearded man is seated in an armchair. He wears a coat, vest, pants, shoes, shirt and necktie. His left arm rests on the arm of the chair. His right arm rests on a table covered with a tablecloth. On the table are two books, a quill pen in an elaborate inkwell with the figure of a soldier on it, and a sheet of paper. The word "PROCLAMATION" is legible at the top of the sheet. The signature "A. Lincoln" is visible at the bottom. In the background is a paneled wall. Fringed drapery tied back with a cord with tassels is at the right. A patterned carpet is on the floor.
