Six men stand around the bed. Five wear coats, pants, vests, shirts, and neckties. The sixth is dressed in clerical vestments; he stands in the center, with an open book in his left hand. His right hand is raised in benediction. A woman kneels in the foreground. She holds a handkerchief to her face and appears to be weeping. Fringed drapery with a valance frames the scene at the left, right, and above. Patterned carpet is on the floor.
